Sibley’s West To Open Downtown Chandler Expansion

CHANDLER, AZ– Sibley’s West, the 6-year-old gift shop that features unique Arizona items, will officially open its expanded 5,000-square-foot store in Downtown Chandler this weekend.

The showcase of Arizona products, Sibley’s West will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Chandler Chamber of Commerce at 4 pm Friday, Oct. 28, followed by an event to “Meet Arizona Artists” from 6 to 8 pm. There will also be food sampling and a photo booth with Southwest Selfies.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, Sibley’s West will have hourly giveaways and other surprises starting at 11 am. There will be a sand art demonstration for children from 2 to 4 pm with ArtiSands of Maricopa and a trunk show with the State Forty Eight founders from 6 to 8 pm.

On Sunday, Oct. 30, the store will raise funds for the Downtown Chandler Community Foundation through sales and a drawing of two chairs decorated by Arizona artists.

Sibley’s West boasts gift items from more than 200 Arizona artists and small businesses from across Arizona. The suppliers include noted artist Diana Madaras of Tucson, Armadilla Wax Works of Prescott, Dirt Shirts of Mesa, and the Queen Creek Olive Mill. New additions include artist Nikki Seiling of Peoria, who paints Southwest wine glasses; folk artist Charles Davison of Superior; and puzzle-maker Master Pieces of Oro Valley.

“The additional space provides us with a unique opportunity to better showcase local artists and products,” said Michelle Wolfe, who owns the store with her husband, John. “We also have a small area for visiting artists and guests.”

Products include pottery, chimes, wall art, yard art, books, stuffed animals, ornaments, jellies, soaps and lotions, hot sauces and salsas, and Native American pieces.

Sibley’s West is a member of the Downtown Chandler Community Partnership, the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, Local First Arizona, and Visit Phoenix.

It boasts top Yelp and TripAdvisor rankings for Arizona gifts and is one of the 12 best Southwest gift shops in the state, according to About.com.

Sibley’s West was the DCCP’s Business of the Year for 2015.

The Vision Gallery in Chandler will present the exhibition “I-HELP – The Portraits of Homelessness” in conjunction with the Chandler Food Bank at the Chandler Christian Community Center, Trinity Christian Fellowship in Chandler, the Chandler Arts Commission and the City of Chandler.

I-HELP “Interfaith Homeless Lodging Program” provides a safe place to sleep and a hot meal for homeless adults every night of the year. With approximately 4400 volunteers who contribute over 14000 volunteer hours a year, I-HELP assists the homeless in acquiring job placement, emergency shelter, and a place to call home. I-HELP is committed to providing services to connect homeless individuals to the vital resources necessary in their community to regain stability.”

Cornhole for a Cause at this November Event

Chandler, AZ (September 28, 2016) — From the same special event team that brought you the Great American Barbeque & Beer Festival, Rockin’ Taco Street Fest, Southwest Cajun Fest and SanTan Brewing Oktoberfest – save the date for a brand new event, Arizona Harvest Festival.

An annual celebration of cooler weather, changing leaves and a bountiful fall season, Arizona Harvest Fest is set to roll up on Saturday, November 5, 2016 in Downtown Chandler from 4-11 p.m. Featuring live entertainment by Tribal Seeds, a reggae band from San Diego, Arizona Harvest Fest will offer a cornucopia of recreational fun for all ages. 

“With fall around the corner, I’m excited to bring another themed community style festival to Downtown Chandler. Harvest Fest will include nostalgic games, seasonal beer garden, food court and national entertainment. We’re also teaming up with United Food Bank and collecting food donations to help those in need. At HDE we focus on building signature events that offer something for everyone for all ages. We can’t wait to add an autumn touch to this seasonal celebration,” Landon Evans, event coordinator, HDE Agency.

Activities include pumpkin toss, pumpkin pageant, cornhole, pie eating contest, corn shucking, cake walk, hay maze, and a kid’s zone. Food and craft vendors will offer seasonal eats, treats, trinkets and gear. Enjoy the flavors of fall in the seasonal beer garden featuring local pumpkin ales and other brews.
