Chandler, Ariz.– Explore digital culture at this season’s final downtown Chandler ArtWalk on Friday, May 18 in Dr. A.J. Chandler Park. Step into the transformative power of art as artists use video mapping, interactive sound, and projections to resculpt and reimagine space. Electrify your imagination with our roving theater sculptures with video art, sideshow performance, and pop-up poetry as you stroll the ArtWalk.
The event will be produced and directed by Jeffrey Lazos- Ferns, a native Arizonan born and raised in Chandler Arizona. Lazos-Ferns is an entrepreneur, artist and cultural worker. “In placemaking the story is always front and center. Chandler's story is rich in history, its early embrace of technology, the arts and community. Chandler's foresight to create public space and events that harmonize the past, present and future are intrinsic values the community has embraced for many generations. As a native to Chandler, Arizona it is exciting and heartfelt to be coming "home" and intersecting through arts/technology programming experiences that enrich the community and visitors daily lives.” Says Lazlos –Ferns.
The Digital Art Movement will include performances by Dak, a graduate of the ASU Herberger Institute of Design, Crystal Cruz, founder of House of Cirque, a performance and circus side show troupe, Fiasco, a nationally touring company that specializes in interactive audience engagement, Ana Flores, cast member at Childsplay and published poet, and Roman Reyes, Phoenix area artist as well as Professor Emeritus at Phoenix College.
The ArtWalk provides a fun family atmosphere where you can browse the many different types of art available from our talented artists. It’s a monthly event featuring local artists and musicians, and is a great opportunity to visit all of the unique establishments in downtown Chandler.
